It is not cluttered with unnecessary buttons and looks minimalistic. Toolbox contains all of the painting tools. Canvas area is where you do your painting. Main window is divided into three sections: canvas area, toolbox, layers panel. The MyPaint download has a fairly basic, but intuitive interface. Application is available for Windows, macOS, Linux. It has been designed to work well with graphics tablets and supports pressure-sensitive input. This will be staying on my computer for a long time.The MyPaint is an open source painting program that was created with the intention of providing a free software alternative to expensive commercial drawing applications. There are NUMEROUS brush editing options to tune and save your brushes the way YOU want them. Very easy interface, layering, runs well, and for us natural type painters, this is an excellent application. This is one of the most natural paint programs I have found as of yet and love the shortcut features to disable windows or bring them back when I want the brush or paint out of the way.

I have been looking for something similar to use for painting and until NOW, I haven't found what fit my style 'simple free hand' painting. Let me first get this out of the way, I do like scraping a bit and moving oil paint around and have not been able to get this out of it yet but it may be I haven't yet found the correct method.ĪrtRage is great but you need to pay for it and it's becoming bloated and more of a 'look what you can do with no talent' type painting program. Well at first I was thinking, oh great, another wannabe paint application but after use, I was not disappointed.
